Michael Miller of Colonial Consulting to Present at the Council on Foundations 2011 Fall Conference for Community Foundations

Colonial Consulting Managing Director to Lecture on Financial Administration for Community Foundations and Present Investment Performance and Strategy Update

New York, NY, September 19, 2011 - Colonial Consulting, LLC, a leading investment advisor with a core focus on non-profits, is pleased to announce that Managing Director Michael Miller will be presenting on key topics at the Council on Foundations 2011 Fall Conference for Community Foundations between September 19, 2011 and September 21, 2011.

Mr. Miller will be lecturing as part of a preconference program titled "Center for Community Foundation Excellence - Financial Administration for Community Foundations" and will also be presenting "Investment Performance and Strategy Update" in a separate conference session.

Financial Administration for Community Foundations provides an understanding of the many issues unique to community foundation finances and gives an orientation to the resources needed to be effective in roles with fiscal responsibility. This interactive course is designed so that attendees have a framework for developing policies and practices related to the National Standards; understand the legal and regulatory requirements specific to community foundations that are necessary to maintain full legal, ethical, and industry standards compliance; better understand the implications and trade-offs in policy decisions; understand factors to consider in cash management, asset allocation, and fees; be more conversant in complicated fiscal issues, and better able to take your case to your board; and learn how to find the right people to get the job done. Financial Administration for Community Foundations is intended for community foundation CEOs, managers, or trustees with fiscal responsibilities, and who are new to finance and fiscal administration.

Investment Performance and Strategy Update will review performance results and strategy through June 30, 2011, from the community foundation investment survey. The session will also cover various approaches to constructing peer groups and provide an update regarding the results of top-performing community foundations as identified in last year鈥檚 session.

The theme of this year's conference is 鈥淪TEPS,鈥 a metaphor for rising to new challenges and advancing the work of community foundations for the greater good. Through a host of thought-provoking sessions and exciting events, attendees will learn from colleagues around the country and get an insider鈥檚 view of unique approaches to problem-solving. The conference takes place in San Francisco, CA, between September 19 and 21. Information regarding the conference can be found at the conference web site.
